With Thanksgiving fast approaching, it's time for the 12th Annual Turkey Drop! This collection drive was started by my friends Julie and Jerry Ford, who hosted the event for a decade at their Plainfield, IL home until it just grew too large. I mean, they collected 723 birds last year, people! Try doing that out of your garage... Last year the Plainfield Moose Lodge hosted the Drop and is generously hosting the Drop once again.
Here's some info from their Facebook event page -
"The members of the Plainfield Moose Lodge and the Ford Family will come together again to collect frozen turkeys to help the needy families of the Will County area. Please stop by with a frozen turkey and have an amazing brunch as our thank you for your generosity. Bring your whole family and all of your friends. We need to beat last year's number of 723 turkeys because we are helping three organizations including Plainfield Interfaith Food Pantry, We Care of Romeoville Food Pantry, and Morningstar Mission in Joliet. The need is great and all turkeys will benefit a family in need. Prices have skyrocketed and we need more donations to even try to come close to last year's number. Please help if you can! If you'd rather send a donation than come in person, I would GLADLY bring your check. Please make all checks payable to Plainfield Moose Lodge and note "turkey drop" in the memo. Check out www.plainfieldturkeydrop.c
Please come out. It's fun, the food is awesome, it's for a great cause and it's the nicest group of people you're likely to ever meet.
