When I saw this article on Chase Jarvis' blog, it reminded me of those old John Cameron Swayze commercials for Timex watches. Or when you see pics of damaged and destroyed Zippo lighters recovered from burnt buildings or dredged up out of a lake.

I wish they'd mentioned whether the camera still worked. It wouldn't surprise me at all that the data was recoverable from the memory card - after all, there are no moving or exposed parts...it's just an IC encased in a chunk of protective plastic. Let it dry, clean out the contacts and you should be good to go... But the camera's another matter. Though it likely wouldn't be cost-effective to actually send it off to be cleaned and repaired, I'd still be curious.
